Happy birthday to Reeya Misra, who celebrated her second birthday Friday night with her family enjoying a special Lappert’s treat amidst the excitement of the Flavors of Poipu (how can you sleep through the exciting performance of Falling Down Romance? Reeya’s sister Akiya did just that after a full day of enjoying Kauai’s beaches.)

The same could be said for Sabine Dumais’ le bebe voyageur, a new project started by the relationship coordinator from the University of Alberta, Saint-Jean campus, who was enjoying the excitement of Falling Down Romance while le bebe (it’s far better than a Flat Stanley) was back at the hotel with papa.
Sabine is in culinary tourism management and found the 2018 Poipu Food &Wine Festival while planning for her trip to Kauai, and took in nearly all of the events because of their relevance to her work at the University of Alberta.
And kudos to the Kauai Community College culinary arts department for being such great beneficiaries of the Poipu Food &Wine Festival — they had students helping the competing chefs (Bryson Sugahara of The Dolphin Restaurant &Fish Market is still talking about how Chef Fetulele “Fetu” Taala scooped out that ulu) during the Food Network’s “Chopped” format competition before coming out Friday for the Kauai Grown menu preparation.
Happy Veterans Day, and a special mahalo to all of our military (Mary Kay Hertog said there’re 6,000 active military living and working here on Kauai!) for all you do to keep us able to enjoy Kauai!
