Kauai High School’s girls bowling team placed sixth, and Kapaa High School’s boys team placed ninth at the 2018 Billy Tees Bowling Championships state tournament.
The two-day tournament finished Friday at the Hickam Bowling Center in Honolulu.
The Kauai girls team’s total score was 5,832 to placed sixth out of nine girls teams. Iolani of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu won the girls team championship with a total of 6,808.
The Kapaa boys team’s total was 6,040 to finish ninth out of 10 teams. Mililani of the Oahu Interscholastic Association won the boys team title with a total score of 7,575.
Jana Fukushima of Mililani was the top girls individual with a score of 483 (160-156-167; 1,487 pins).
Kapaa High School’s Dana Murata was the KIF’s best girls bowler with a total of 430 (136-157-137; 1,375 pins). Murata placed 11th out of 100.
Kai Yamada of Mid-Pacific, of the ILH, was the top boys individual bowler with a total score of 531 (158-171-202; 1,628 pins).
Kauai High School’s Alvin Reis was top the best boys bowler of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation with a score of 447 (152-155-140; 1,468 pins). Reis placed 26th out of 100.
