Leaders of the Kauai Pop Warner Football League are in pink to celebrate October during the island-wide cheer competition, Sunday at the Clem Gomes Gym in Waimea. Teddy Arroyo said the pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is especially meaningful because Ginny Agena, one of its cheer coordinators, is currently fighting cancer.

Sarah Thompson of Beck’s Hybrids, second from left, delivers a load of pumpkins to Michelle Lizama, Elizabeth Lindsey, Mona Caldeira, and Craig Arzadon for the county’s annual pumpkin carving contest. The carved pumpkins will go in display starting Friday and Thompson will be delivering at least 100 pumpkins for giveaway at the Kauai Community Market, Saturday at the Kauai Community College.

Owen Kollar, 2, has been out and about — three big events in five days! He was with dad Justin Kollar on Wednesday during the YWCA of Kauai Candlelight Vigil remembering victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault before joining mom Sierra Hampton-Eng Friday at the big college fair for Kauai families.
