PUHI — Betta produced by Liz Hahn of Kauai Bettas fared well in the recent International Betta Congress, International, Area 1 fish show hosted by First Coast Bettas in Florida.
“This is not a very big show, with just 211 fish entered from 22 breeders,” Hahn said. “But our fish did well. It was a lot easier to send them to Florida than to Brazil, where we had entries in their show.”
Hahn captured the top three spots for the Division 1, Self Bred Metallic Single Tail Female, and a third place for the Green/Turquoise Single Tail Female in the Self Bred division.
She went on to finish with a first place in the Variety B: Plakat class with a single tail male, all patterns, and added a third place in the Traditional Plakat, Single Tail Male, Solid Color.
The plakats which Hahn only recently started breeding took the top three places in Variety C: Other Recognized Forms class in the Crowntail Plakat Male categories before nailing second and third places in the Crowntail/Doubletail/Veiltail varieties class.
A submission from the Crowntail/Doubletail/Veiltail class also earned the Waimea breeder a special show award for Other Recognized Forms Female.
Hahn finished the year in a solid second place in the IBC following its convention and year-end show in California in May.
