WAIMEA — Waimea High School girls volleyball will face off against Hana High School Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. at St. Francis School on Oahu.
The Menehune, who clinched the Kauai Interscholastic Federation title to advance to the state tournament as the representative from the Garden Island, earned a No. 5 seed to the New City Nissan Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II bracket, The announcement was made by the HHSAA Saturday night.
Mid Pacific Institute earned the top seed in Division II, followed by Seabury Hall getting the No. 2 seed.
Kohala High School of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation got the nod as No. 3 seed, and Kaiser High School got the No. 4 seed.
Should the Menehune get past Hana on Wednesday, they face off against Kaiser on Thursday. The Division II championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Neal Blaisdell Center.
Other teams participating in Division II include Konawaena, Sacred Hearts, Leilehua, Le Jardin, Damien and Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
Top seed in the Division I bracket goes to Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama, with the Mililani Trojans getting the No. 2 seed. Kekaulike is the No. 3 seed and Hilo rounds out the leaderboard as the No. 4 seed.
Other teams participating in Division I play include Kamehameha-Maui, Moanalua, Kahuku, Farrington, Kamehameha-Hawaii, Waianae, Iolani and Kapolei High School.
Championship for Division I teams is scheduled for Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
