LIHUE — For six Sundays beginning Oct. 14, North Shore residents who have experienced the death of an important person in their lives may attend “Journey Through Grief,” a supportive bereavement workshop.
Sponsored by Kauai Hospice, the series is open to the public at no charge. Previously offered in Lihu‘e for many years, Kaua‘i Hospice has now expanded its locations to the North Shore.
The personal journey through grief requires time to heal and requires support for the depth of feelings we all experience with grief. This workshop provides a safe environment to explore how loss affects and transforms our lives and our families.
Information about the grieving process, as well as guidance for self-care and strategies for daily living will be shared in these supportive sessions. “Previous attendees comment that spending quality time with others in the grief process brings comfort, greater understanding and a respite from the demands of work, family and obligations,” according to Caroline Miura, Bereavement Care Coordinator.
The workshop meets Sunday afternoons, 3 to 4:30 p.m., in Princeville at Church of the Pacific, Oct. 14 through Nov. 18 and will be facilitated by Ibbie White Al-Shamma.
To register for the Journey Through Grief workshop, please contact Kauai Hospice, 245-7277. For a list of other bereavement offerings and workshop sites visit www.kauaihospice.org.
