LIHUE — As part of the Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, the Kauai RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) sponsored by the County of Kauai Agency on Elderly Affairs, is hosting a collection drive to purchase gift cards for homebound veterans and their caregivers through the end of September.
The Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of efforts, originally launched in 2002, that promotes community service on Sept. 11 as an annual and forward-looking tribute to the Sept. 11 victims, survivors and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks.
Monetary contributions and gift cards to local stores and restaurants can be dropped off at the AEA office at the Lihue Civic Center Pi‘ikoi Building, 4444 Rice St., Suite 330, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays through the end of September.
