WAIMEA — Hawaiian song artist Madison Makanaokahaku Scott will be holding a release party for her new album, “Na Mele Punahele” (favorite songs) from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Waimea Theatre.
Scott’s sophomore album features original compositions and collaborations with prominent Hawaiian artists, including Ikaika Blackburn, Michael Keale and Ioane Burns.
The record is a labor of love for the Central Coast California native who was inspired by a devotion to Hawaiian language and musicianship.
Scott, 22, is blind.
Local mentors like husband and wife duo Kupaoa have helped Scott refine her style and share the aloha spirit to both local and Mainland audiences.
The release party will welcome sets of performers offering duets and solo arrangements played by Keale, Wailoa, Blackburn, Halehaku Seabury-Akaka, Keao Costa and, of course, Scott herself.
CDs will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $25 at the door.
