Teruko Umetsu
Teruko Umetsu, 93, of Kapaa, passed away on July 27, 2018, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home.
Born on Sept. 5, 1924, in Kapahi, she was a retired billing clerk with Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by husband Kichiro Umetsu, son Gordon Emetsu and daughter Lynette Umetsu.
She is survived by son Calvin (Donna) Emetsu of Eleele, daughters Carol (Allan) Aceret of Las Vegas, Gail (Larry) Lee of Wailua, Kand Lisa (Kenneth) Kimura of Wailua, 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brothers Shigeru (Yuriko) Miyasato of Kapahi and Shinao (Aiko) Miyasato of Honolulu, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Kapaa United Church of Christ from 3:30 p.m. Services will be celebrated at 4 p.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

Takashi Hashimura

Takashi Hashimura, 94, of Eleele, passed away on July 21, 2018, at Garden Isle Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
Born on March 2, 1924 in Kukuiula, he was a retired field laborer of McBryde Sugar Company and also served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Eimatsu and Hideyo Hashimura, wife Asano Hashimura, brother Katsumi Hashimura and sister Doris Hironaka.
He is survived by son Gene (Marie) Hashimura of Wailua Houselots, daughters Deborah Hashimura and Sandra Takizawa of Honolulu, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother Hiroki (Yuki) Hashimura of Kaneohe, Oahu, sisters Nancy (Wallace) Nakamoto of Chicago and Helen Fujimoto of Seattle, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Hanapepe Hongwanji Mission church from 9 to 9:45 a.m., where memorial services and celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. The military honors inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
The family suggests aloha attire.

Dexter James Takashima

Dexter James Takashima, 67, of Kekaha, passed away on July 22, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on Nov. 9, 1950, in Wilcox Memorial Hospital, he was a telecommunications officer with Kauai Police Department and master sergeant with the Hawaii Army National Guard.
He is survived by wife Ku’ulei Takashima of Kekaha, daughters Joslyn Wong, Michelle Kinimaka-Aranio and Kristen Takashima, all of Kekaha, four grandchildren, parents Lester and Hanae Takashima, brother Galvin Takashima of Tennesse, sister Mona Kitasue of California, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friend may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Theresa Church from 10 to 10:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
