The County of Kauai has announced an updated placard exchange schedule for Wainiha and Haena residents and non-governmental agencies through Aug. 31.
County staff will install window decals in exchange for the issued placards, indicating the vehicle has authorized access to pass the Waikoko checkpoint, provided the placard matches the vehicle. Exchanges do not require any new paperwork or any additional forms to be filled out.
All residential and non-governmental agency placards will expire after Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. Until that date, both the new decals and original placards will be honored by checkpoint staff during the transition.
Any beige governmental contractors passes issued by either the state Department of Transportation or County of Kauai, or Waikoko-only access resident passes, do not require an exchange and will remain valid past Aug. 31.
