Isaac Sopoaga had time to get in some football catches before Vince Mene got his Rep 50 sports camp going Sunday at Isenberg Park. It was very nice to see all those former University of Hawaii football players (Mel Purcell and Samson Satele were also helping) coming together to help the young players with their game skills as they worked with St. Louis School quarterback coach Vinnie Passas and Mene in football drills.

Fig Mitchell (nope, he wasn’t at camp — he was at youth basketball watching daughter Gianna play with Na Koa) is excited that Kauai Interscholastic Federation football is here — Kalaheo High School comes to visit Kauai High, Friday, and Fig will be on mic, Saturday when Lahainaluna comes to visit Kapaa High School.
Gianna and Kiaura Ortiz-Rita (she’s not a Kaulupono “Little One”) had one thing in common — I’m hungry! Buy me food!
In addition to football, this weekend shapes up to be another event-filled one as Jo and Tepairu Manea host the Heiva i Kauai, Saturday and Sunday at the Kapaa Beach Park, and Chucky Boy Chock, Maryanne Kusaka and everyone at the Kauai Museum hosts its every-two-years Living Treasures luncheon in the shadow of the Junior Lifeguard state finals.
See everyone at the kickoff! —
