OMAO — An Omao woman was found dead in her home Tuesday and a man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in relation to her death.

The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Joellen Hartman.

“Shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, police arrived at Hartman’s home on Punee Road in Omao, to conduct a welfare check. Upon their arrival, police discovered Hartman apparently died from injuries as a result of an assault,” according to a county press release.

A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Hartman’s tenant, 62-year-old Peter Grewer, who remains in police cellblock on $1 million bail.

An investigation continues.
