May Day celebrations have been taking place at schools throughout the island during the month, with Wilcox Elementary School hosting the special guests from Mamu Primary School from Papenoo, Tahiti, on Friday. Kudos to Art Umezu who rendered his “We Are One” to celebrate all of the students. Art said he hasn’t done the number since 1987, and the last time he heard it was with Renee Thronas’ choir. Great job to Corey Nakamura and his Wilcox School ohana!
Moving on, kudos to Ed Kawamura Sr. and his ohana on another great lawn and garden expo! Chad Ragsac got to upgrade his Maruyama to a backpack power unit, and even had time to check out a TruCut mower (those things are not inexpensive, but he said they’re worth the money).
