Play ended after the top of the fifth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Kapaa (6-3 KIF, 2-1 2nd round) piled on 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the inning, Warriors shortstop Tia Takasaki hit a two-RBI single to left field.
The Warriors scored two more runs in the second inning to push their lead to 12. With two outs and a runner on first, Takasaki knocked a two-run home run to right field.
Kauai High (0-7 KIF, 0-2 2nd round) had a chance at a score in the first. With Red Raiders leadoff hitter Justice Funamura-Sasil at third base and with two outs, shortstop Kassidie Bukoski flied out to right field to end the inning.
Kapaa totaled 12 runs on 13 hits and left two runners on base. Kauai High got zero runs on two hits and left three runners on base.
Kauai will play against Waimea (6-2 KIF, 2-1 2nd round) for a doubleheader Saturday at Waimea Canyon Park. The first game is set for 10 a.m.
Kapaa will next play at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Waimea.
