Nobue Watanabe gets emotional as St. Theresa School preschoolers sing “Happy Birthday” to her Tuesday ahead of the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital Easter egg hunt in Waimea.

Happy birthday (there’re a lot of them!) to all the March babies as Rosita “Rose” Fune celebrated her day March 24 (Kauai Adult Day Health Center aide Johnna Miller had hers March 25) with her family Wednesday at the facility located on Kress Street.

Ryan Fune said Rose has been a collector her whole life, and the best collection (more than 3,000 nutcrackers!) she has is all the people who are her friends.

Happy birthday to Nobue Watanabe (she was the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital’s Valentine’s queen) who celebrated her birthday on the same day KVMH hosted the St. Theresa School (they’ve got their carnival coming up April 20 and 21!) preschoolers for Easter egg hunting on the KVMH Waimea campus.

That same night, Tiare Cardejon was celebrating her birthday at the Kauai Interscholastic Federation boys volleyball game at Waimea High School, and thank you, Joyce Evens, for not telling the world.

OK, time to get excited about Easter…The Flip Flop Shop is celebrating its grand opening Saturday, and magician Mickey Magic is doing a special show at Kukui Grove Center from 11 a.m.
