Kauai pickleball players picked up a good share of hardware during the Oahu Senior Games March 2 though 4 at the Diamond Head Tennis Center on Oahu.
More than 220 players, including 85 from seven different states and Canada, registered for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles in age groups ranging from 50 and older.
Kauai pickleball players earned a good share of awards, led by Jimmy and Judy Honda who finished with the silver medal in the 3.5 60-plus class. Jimmy Honda later teamed with Jon Brown, a New Yorker, to finish with bronze in the 3.5 60-plus category.
Janet Nathanson and Dick Furtado, spending part of their year on Kauai, collected bronze in the 4.0 60-plus class, and Kris Nuding and Donna Gray also found some hardware.
Melanie Okamoto of the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation teamed with Loutoa Zoller to find bronze in the 3.5 50-plus category to round out the Kauai share of victories at the tournament which attracted players from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island.
