Surfers are being credited with saving a couple in North Shore waters.
A 43-year-year old female was apparently swept off the rocks at Ka Pukamoi during high surf and stormy conditions about 2 p.m. Friday, according to Kauai County.
Hanalei firefighters and Ocean Safety lifeguards responded to the call in Kalihiwai.
“The woman’s boyfriend jumped in to assist her when they both became distressed,” a statement said. “Nearby surfers spotted the couple and were able to bring them safely to shore before first responders arrived to the scene.”
Medics treated the couple at the scene for non-life threatening injuries before the woman was transported to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment.
With pay? Love. Some of the rescuers are phonies. Happy for her. I don’t know.
