A potluck and talk story is set for noon Sunday with Democratic congressional candidate Sherry Alu Campagna Salt Pond Beach Park.
The Hawaii commissioner and former state chair of the Women’s March on Washington is running to become the first kanaka maoli woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Her paternal roots trace back to the 1800s in Hanapepe.
Her campaign platform includes protecting the environment, diversifying the economy, quality education and healthcare, and ending the affordable housing crisis.
“The time has come for us to bring true democracy back to Congress, get contempt out of politics, and bring back just standards for the nation’s leadership positions — standards that are founded in credibility, justice, and authentic concern for people,” said Alu Campagna in a press release.
