Employee situation an embarrassment
According to the Feb. 14 TGI article, Charles Rapozo, a county employee, was retaliated against for bringing up concerns about asbestos at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. For over a year, he was given nothing to do but was still paid and given satisfactory work evaluations.
My first question is who is the supervisor who was responsible for this situation? Has he been punished for this cruel act and waste of county money? If not, why not?
Also, if Council Chair, Mel Rapozo, spoke to the mayor about this situation, why didn’t the mayor do something about it? Perhaps, he can explain that to the taxpayers as he is out campaigning for lieutenant governor.
The county not only wasted money by having an employee who was given nothing to do, they will end up paying a lot more when they settle his retaliation lawsuit. What a disgraceful situation and an embarrassment to the County of Kauai.

Mahalo to Kapaa Key Club for books
Last Saturday, Feb. 10, three young ladies from the Kapaa Key Club arrived at the free library we have adjacent to our Chocolat Hanalei Shop in Hanalei.
Seems the Kapaa Key Club had collected many books and donated them to our free library. Key Club members Annie Hawks, Nika Alumpe and Quinn Gayagas represented their club admirably, almost filling our space with great reading materials for neighbors and guests of our area.
We at the Chocolat Shop and the people of the North Shore want to thank you for your efforts and thoughts.

Yesterday was a great day and the many people who ran the Great Aloha Run were treated with clear weather. As far as the mayor running for Lt. Governor, I was wondering which party or will it be non partisan. I am curious how many contributors he can come up with by August. And with who will he be with? Still many uncertain questions lingering around.

Yes, as elected officials, the public should demand transparency.
I too would love to hear the administration’s side of this…..the Mayor’s side, and his Supervisor’s side.
Kapa’a key club? “What’s the yellow wire use for next to your radio in your car?” How many volts does it supply?
When you have the privilege and responsibility of being on the Council, why would you stop at “telling the mayor”? Why wouldn’t you move to have all public buildings inspected for asbestos and put on the calendar; and why wouldn’t you demand this man’s supervisor come in to answer for his actions? It’s not enough to talk big after the fact. THIS is what you’ve done while in office?
