It’s finally here! The Year of the Brown Earth Dog, and perfect timing for Flavors of Kukuiula, which is celebrating today with firecrackers (yep, Stacie Chiba Miguel got her permit!) and the Chinese lion dance, and some street food celebrating the year of the dog from 6 p.m.!
Candice Boxer of Ono Pops is an Earth Dog. But, guess what? No chocolate Chinese five spice pops at the Zonta Club of Kauai Eat Dessert First…kudos to Jeanette Bonilla and all her Zontans on a great job, where Laura Cristobal Andersland of The Salty Wahine was busy with the photo booth, and Sue Kanoho did a great job selling all the slices for the king’s cake (who had the baby?).
Liz Herring (Dizzy Lizzy!) and Irene Cecconi were decked out in Mardi Gras finery (just like John and Julie Hodges!), and Angela Tillson got help from Trina Schrette (Alaska?) in making sure people didn’t forget that it was malasada Tuesday.
Firipi Salas (Nelson Batalion must’ve been working) got tangled up with Candice’s lei, but loaned his lei and creation to Angela and Trina for the picture, and Marlana Patterson said her VIP Treats and Sweets in the Kauai Village celebrates its first anniversary March 16.
She’s been doing Eat Dessert First longer than a year because her daughter was a Zonta scholarship recipient, so she had to help and support.
