POIPU — The firecrackers will start popping at 6 p.m. when The Shops at Kukuiula welcomes the Year of the Dog with its Chinese New Year celebration today.
A Chinese lion dance will accept lai see, or good-luck offerings from the audience and merchants for the Year of the Dog.
“We are excited to invite residents and visitors alike to celebrate the Year of the Dog with good food and great entertainment at our inaugural Chinese New Year celebration,” said Stacie Chiba Miguel, senior property manager at The Shops at Kukuiula.
The taiko ensemble Tsunami Taiko will emerge from the smoke and din with its performance that follows from 6:40 p.m. Live music from Falling Down Romance starts at 7 p.m.
