in injuries.

The collision occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when a Jeep Cherokee traveling north on Kuhio Highway crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a Chevy pickup truck heading south.
Soon after, a third driver heading north in a Ford SUV crashed into the Chevy pickup truck.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, a 57-year-old man of Eleele, sustained serious injuries and was transported by medics to Wilcox Medical Center.
No injuries were reported for the driver of the Ford SUV, a 21-year-old man of Lihue. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, a 21-year-old man of Lihue, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Police closed Kuhio Highway in both directions until shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday. During the closure, southbound traffic was diverted through a Wailua cane haul road.
Northbound traffic was allowed through one lane on Kuhio Highway at approximately 8:40 a.m.
The investigation of this crash remains ongoing.
