LIHUE — Gates to the The fourth annual All-Hawaii Life Champion Bowl will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Vidinha Stadium with the game kicking off at 11 a.m.
The Life Champion Bowl, working in collaboration with Marcus Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation, will feature 99 senior scholar-athletes representing 34 schools from the four high school athletic leagues, including the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, the Maui Interscholastic League, the Oahu Interscholastic Association, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and the Kauai Interscholastic Federation.
“The Life ChampionBowl features high school seniors who meet the Life Champion Bowl criteria, a criteria we have crafted to promote positive behavior in schools, citizenship in the community, and to celebrate our scholar athletes’ academic and athletic success,” said Robert “Keala” Pule Sr., the Life Champion Bowl executive director. “The Life Champion Bowl has helped us help Hawaii families secure their child’s college education through playing football.”
Pule said on this year’s roster, there are 13 seniors who have maintained a 3.7 to 3.975 grade point average in their high school education, and there are seven seniors who have maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Players from the KIF participating this year are:
w Waimea’s Dylan Balaan (WR, DT) and Avery Miguel (RB, DB).
w Kapaa’s Kalena Harder (RB, LB), Justin Paleka (OL) and Dusten Ramseyer-Burdett (DB).
w Kauai’s Noah Hoopii (WR, DB), Jaykob Nakaahiki-Young (RB, DB), Noah Ruiz (WR, DB) and Noah Tangalin (LB, TE, RB).
Also in attendance during the LCB are representatives of a few colleges including Whitworth University, Lewis &Clark, Pacific, George Fox University, and North Park University.
Some of the Kauai LCB alumni include Red Raider Cameron Henry who is attending Pacific University, Maka AhLoo of Kapaa who is at Lewis &Clark, Keala Iwasaki of Kauai High who is at the George Fox University, Justin Fune of Waimea who is at the North Park University and Mana Kupihea and Clifton Oliver of Kapaa who is at Linfield College. Kapaa graduate Daniel Asotasi is at the North Park University.
Assisting on the LCB coaching staff are Kauai alumni Vaughn Meatoga, Jett Jasper, and Sean Shigematsu.
“We are very proud and honored to work with the Marcus Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation to continue the Life Champion Bowl in hopes it will continue having a positive impact in our Hawaii community,” Pule said.
