Kauai High School students stop for a photo with the Saito-Brown family last week. The family visited to thank them for their letters regarding Keanu Saito, a family member who passed away in August. The students wrote with mechanical pencils as a symbol. Just like the pencils that need to be filled with lead, our lives need to be filled, too. The family said to the students that they’re not alone and urged them to stay positive, even in loss. Pictured: Paka Brown, Desaray Brown, Ali’i Brown, Larry Brown, Helena Huffman, Mari Kanna, Stacie Schnackenberg, Gianna Riopta, Jaira Robia, Torrie Hasegawa, Khwan Seechachet, Leona Sime, Alexis Lima, Jaykob Nakaahiki-Young, Jacob Herr, Shaun Paglinawan, Gunnar Burkman, Kaylee Braun, Angelica Tangatailoa, Hilarie Marcelino, Dawn Pigao and Billie Terao.
