Kayli Obrero came from Honolulu (it’s a marathon weekend, you know), and Helen Santiago had the day off so she could bring her exchange students, Takuya Masui and Rentaro Kubo to the Kauai Culinary Market (Ferdinand Dosono and Elvrine Chow were trying to guess who was running in the Kauai Marathon).
Congratulations to Faye Tangonan on winning the Mrs. Hawaii Filipina title on Oahu back in April. Faye was showing off her terno featuring pineapple fibers, and real cornhusks to Barbara Green, a terno designer, that earned top honors in both the Terno Design and the Terno Speech Phase in the pageant hosted by the United Filipino Council of Hawaii. Faye said Kauai hasn’t fielded a Mrs. Hawaii Filipina contestant for several years so was surprised to earn the title. She also won top awards in Talent, Interview, Most Photogenic, and was voted Most Congenial. Faye will be in the Terno Ball, Sept. 16 starting with registration at 5:30 p.m. at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
OK, off to check out the Kauai Pop Warner Football League Jamboree that kicks off “early” (Akala Aiwohi says 8 a.m.?), Saturday at Vidinha Stadium.
