Mary Jane Omi of the Garden Island Federal Credit Union made tambo tambo for the bake and rummage sale Friday to benefit the 15 for 15 food drive (the Kauai Independent Food Bank’s drive to raise $15,000 in 15 days, ending July 21). Stephanie Shinno said they’re going to do the sale for the next two Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gotta check out the Korean blanket, and maybe some tambo tambo (Mary Jane said she’ll be making more).
Kudos to Stephanie Iona and Laurie Yoshida who got help from Mufi Hanneman in getting all those University of Hawaii coaches and UH Athletic Director David Matlin to the Kauai Chamber of Commerce meeting Thursday! As proof of the excitement generated by the UH athletics, Carol Texeira (Valeria Matias is getting some Manera supporter wear) and Anna Baudouin (welcome back from Washington, D.C.) said this was the biggest attendance for a second quarter meeting.
Isle Hoops coach Corey Dobashi and player Luke Hunadi missed the game (so did Westside coach Dino Pabre) because they were at the Chamber meeting, and Hawaii Senate President Ron Kouchi got the guys even more excited by announcing the possibility of a green-and-white men’s basketball game later in the year.
OK, time to get ready for the Kauai Hospice Concert in the Sky, and the veterans roundup (wonder how that MASH re-enactment and Brenda Biehler Broadway tribute would work against fireworks …) on July 4.
