Water conservation requested for Hanapepe, Eleele areas

HANAPEPE — The Department of Water has issued an immediate water conservation request for Hanapepe and Eleele residents until further notice, due to a power outage at the area’s well and tank site.

Residents and businesses are asked to limit water consumption to essential uses only in order to avoid a water outage.

Electrical outages disrupt the DOW’s well pumping sites, and serve weather conditions and high river levels are preventing personnel from accessing the site. Water conservation is requested until personnel can restore power to the well and tank site.

Essential water uses include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
