A friend and I went to Olympic Cafe in Kapaa on a Bloody Mary Morning served weekends 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can create your own signature Bloody Mary from the Bloody Mary Bar with your choice of vodka and an array of hot sauces and veggies to create your own personal drink! The Effen cucumber vodka my friend has been telling me about is what got me. I am not a Bloody Mary fan myself, but I have to say that the cucumber vodka makes all the difference. It is dangerously delicious. With all the veggies you can add, this drink could fool you into being a meal itself and get you tipsy quick on an empty stomach in the morning. The cucumber vodka is a smooth drink on its own as well.
“We’ve been experimenting with some of the ‘Moonshines’ in the Mason jars,” general manager Jakki Nelson said. “They come in a lot of different flavors such as cranberry and blackberry infused and the actual fruit is at the bottom of the jar all soaked up and really tasty. Our bar manager Graig, has been in the business for 25 years. We try get creative and allow room for play with the recipes.”
For not being a high-end food establishment the restaurant has a pretty good wine selection with reds, whites and Champaign mimosas. It gets changed every six months. There are seven beers on tap and happy hour is daily from 3 to 7 p.m. with specials on some drinks and food. All food is also offered at the bar.
